by Councillor Terry Paul
During the past year I’ve spoken to members at a number of ward meetings about youth violence and crime and about our aspirations for Newham’s young people. Many of those conversations, questions and suggestions fed into a report that charts a plan of action for Newham in tackling this important social issue.
The Crime and Disorder Scrutiny Commission, which I chair, presents its report and recommendations on “Youth crime and gang related violence” to the Mayor and cabinet next month. The report highlights the considerable amount of work being done within Newham, led by the council and its partners, in tackling youth crime and gang related violence.
The report’s recommendations build upon this work led by the community safety partnership, of which Newham is a partner, and has been commended by the Home Office.
If you’re interested in receiving a copy of the report or would like to discuss its findings, please email me at email@example.com.
