Youth question time – 29 January

On Thursday 29 January, Cllr Seyi Akiwowo will be hosting a question and answer session at which young people in Newham will be able to question some of the borough’s key players.

The panel has been put together following feedback from students who attended the Stephen Timms Summer School last year. The group suggested it would be a good idea if young people had the chance to question local MPs, as well as members of the Council, the local constabulary and those involved with education provision in and around Newham.

The evening will mirror the BBC show Question Time and will take place from 6.30pm to 8pm at East Ham Town Hall. The confirmed list of panellists are:

  • Stephen Timms, Member of Parliament for East Ham;
  • Lyn Brown, Member of Parliament for West Ham;
  • Kim Bromley-Derry, Chief Executive of Newham Council;
  • Tricia King, Pro-Vice-Master at Birkbeck, University of London; and
  • Det Supt Andrew Mortimer, Newham Constabulary.

Those who wish to attend should RSVP to to stephen@stephentimms.org.uk  and are encouraged to submit questions before the event using the hashtag #NewhamYQT.

A PDF of the invite is available here to download – please feel free to email it anyone you think might be interest in coming along. You can also share the event on Facebook.
