After a short break, members of Forest Gate North & West Ham Labour, led by our newly re-elected MP (with 77% of the vote) Lyn Brown, were back on the campaign trail. As well as the NHS demo in Central London, last Saturday was a Labour Party National Campaign Day, on Theresa May, having “No Mandate for Cuts”.
This was in the week that the Tories voted and cheered in Parliament on cutting yet again public sector pay, while at the same time crying crocodile tears about the bravery of our Police, Fire & Ambulance service.
There was a superb response today in Forest Gate for Labour, including signing a petition about the Grenfell fire and making sure that the Council does everything possible to make things safe for residents.
Before the stall, Lyn went to nearby Market Square to support the very first Forest GAYTE Pride.

A vital and indispensable aspect of growing up. The key to prosperity and future success. The stepping stone to enabling young people to achieve their dreams and develop into thriving citizens who go on to make a significant change within our society.
With that being said, surely the government should be doing all that they can to ensure that children and young people are provided with the opportunities and resources necessary to enable them to reach their goals – regardless of gender, family background or their financial situation.
Every child has the right to a high-quality education, which broadens their horizons and allows them to feel valued as an individual. Continue reading
Some pictures from a very interactive and fun canvassing training session this morning.
The first month of the year is when we all ambitiously set ourselves great resolutions to be healthier, more adventurous, frugal, active, committed and/or pick up new skills. So as Women’s Officer of the CLP along with core members of the Women’s Forum we resolved to be canvassing pros in 2014!
And being the women of integrity we are, we have beaten the ‘no one keeps to their new year’s resolutions statistic’ and organised specific door canvassing training for this weekend! Continue reading

Are you a Labour party member with a policy idea that you think Labour should adopt? If so come and pitch it, in just 90 seconds, at the Newham Top of the Policies event.
When: 7pm for 7:30pm start, Thursday 19 September 2013.
Where: Upstairs bar/cafe, Stratford Picture House, E15 1BX
What: Pitch your policy idea in 90 seconds, followed by 90 seconds of fast paced questions from the audience. A vote at the end of the night will decide which is the Top Policy with a reward of much kudos, possibly a prize and the opportunity to write an article on your policy in Labour Uncut. We’ve already had submissions to pitch a policy about housing, domestic violence, cycling and education (but we can have more than one policy on a topic).
Who: All Labour Party members and supporters are welcome whether they want to pitch, ask questions or just come along. Our MP Lyn Brown and Shadow Minister Stephen Timms MP will be chairing and time keeping.
Pragmatic Radicalism has held lively Top of the Policy events across the country where Parliamentarians listen to policies and ideas from members and activists. Some of the previous winning ideas include: supporting businesses that provide jobs for ex-offenders, valuations for private lettings, including enterprise in the curriculum and opening up government data to entrepreneurs.
We look forward to seeing you there.
